New venture

MSA Smart Energy System Modeling

MSA Modeling is a United States-based business that Mike Haywood is helping build as a Director, Developer and Partner. The venture applies practical, data-driven modeling and development approaches to support its clients and projects.

Through MSA Modeling, Mike brings the same focus on real-world implementation, commercial discipline and environmental responsibility that has defined his work in resource recovery and sustainable fuels across Australia.

Director

Mike provides strategic direction for MSA Modeling, drawing on decades of operational, commercial and regulatory experience to guide the venture's growth in the United States.

Developer

As a hands-on developer, Mike helps shape the tools, systems and project frameworks that underpin MSA Modeling's service delivery.

Partner

Mike is a committed partner in the business, working alongside the MSA Modeling team to build long-term value and trusted client relationships.

Smart Energy Ecosystem

Grid-tied and non grid-tied architectures

MSA Modeling's Smart Energy Ecosystem brings solar, battery storage, generation, EV charging and household loads together under one managed system. The two architectures below show how the same components are configured in a grid-tied setup, where power can be imported from and exported to the utility grid, and in a non grid-tied (off-grid) setup, where solar, battery and generator carry the site on their own. Both are conceptual energy architecture illustrations, not electrical wiring diagrams.

Grid-tied architecture — utility grid import and export alongside solar, battery and standby generation.
MSA Smart Energy Ecosystem off-grid architecture diagram showing solar PV, inverter, battery, generator, house distribution panel and EV charger without a utility grid connection
Non grid-tied (off-grid) architecture — solar, battery storage and generator supply the site independently of the utility grid.
